Face Coverings/Masks
Effective August 4, 2021, the City of Minneapolis has imposed an indoor face covering/mask mandate for any individual who is over age two and able to medically tolerate a face covering, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, inside all buildings and facilities owned or operated by the City of Minneapolis, including the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC). As a result, face coverings/masks will be required at this event. Face masks will be available onsite for all guests if they do not have their own.
Cleaning & Disinfecting
The MCC is a Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR-accredited facility and has implemented stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention.
The MCC and this event have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting with EPA-approved disinfectants in all public and private spaces with an emphasis on high touchpoint areas and has incorporated new technology such as Electrostatic Disinfecting Machines.
Additionally, hand sanitizing stations will be readily available at the event for personal use. Sanitizing wipes will be available in every session room.
Airflow
The majority of all meeting rooms at the convention center are equipped with Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization, which works by safely introducing ions into the airflow, combining with particles in the air such as viruses, bacteria, odors, and other airborne particles, and then eliminating or neutralizing them. All of the MCC’s spaces are flushed with outside air before and after use. MCC engineers monitor all occupied spaces and maximize the use of outside air.
Distancing
While capacity social distancing measures are not currently required by the state or venue, for personal comfort, chairs will be set approximately 3 feet apart in educational sessions, as well as in food and beverage areas. Directional signage and floor markers will keep traffic flowing smoothly to avoid congestion or areas that could lead to close contact.
Medical Personnel
Medical personnel will be onsite and available to help individuals who are feeling unwell.
Security
Event name badges are required at all times. No one is permitted to enter the event without first showing identification to pick up a badge. The MCC’s Command Center is centrally located on Level One of the building to provide guests with convenient access and efficient response times. With more than 100 security cameras, the venue monitors all areas of the building 24/7. This is complemented by Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District Ambassadors, who will be on-site, as well as nearby, and who have a direct communication line with emergency response.
Current Health & Safety information from the convention center can be found here.
Current Health & Safety information specific to the State of Minnesota and City of Minneapolis, including hotel, airport, mass transit, restaurant and bar, and other local area information, can be found here.
All of the above measures will be evaluated as the event approaches to determine if any changes are necessary to meet guidance and regulations. Please check back here for continuous updates regarding Health & Safety measures. This page was updated on October 14, 2021.
